About the house

More than a fitness studio.

For the last four years we’ve been building a community — from North Park to Bird Rock and beyond San Diego. Five classes, two studios, one house.

The story

Four years, one house.

Activate House began in North Park and grew into a second home in Bird Rock, La Jolla. The idea was never to be the biggest studio in San Diego. It was to be the one that felt most like yours.

The schedule holds five real formats: Spin, Pilates, Sculpt, Pilates × Sculpt and Yoga. Some are heated, some are loud, some are quiet. The point is that you do not have to choose one version of yourself to belong here.

Around the classes there are events, partnerships and retreats — the parts of the house that happen beyond the workout. The next retreat is coming soon. When it is real, the list hears first.

What holds it together

Three things we take seriously.

01

Community, not a crowd.

The instructors know the room. Members pair classes, bring friends back and make the room theirs. “A positive, inclusive and motivating environment” is how one member described it — that is the standard.

02

Every body welcome.

Every class is open to all levels. First-timers get 15 minutes with the team before their first class, and every movement has a version you can take. You do not need to be fit to start.

03

The details matter.

Towels at check-in, eucalyptus towels after class, lockers, rain showers and toiletries. The room should feel like a reset before the workout even starts.

Stephanie, founder of Activate House

Founder

Stephanie Butterfield Richardson.

Stephanie built Activate House around a vision of a new-age fitness studio: all of the best workouts, a community of diverse individuals, and a reason to work toward a healthy, energized life.

The mission is simpler. Hold a supportive space for people on their wellness journey, and make the studio feel like somewhere you belong rather than somewhere you perform.

The people in the room.

Activate House instructors teach across the five formats. The full schedule and the instructor for each class live on the booking page.
